De Nederlandse sopraan Eva-Maria Westbroek heeft op 27 januari 2017 een concert gegeven in het L’Auditori van Barcelona met het Mariinsky Theater Symfonie Orkest onder leiding van dirigent Valery Gergiev.

Eva-Maria Westbroek zong de Liebestod uit de derde akte van ‘Tristan und Isolde’ van Wagner en de finale van ‘Salome’ van Richard Strauss. De pers schreef lovend:

“Towering above the rest of the cast, Eva-Maria Westbroek gave us an Isolde of stature to match: her voice has so much in reserve that she was able to throw emotion into every line of the Liebestod without ever going shrill at the top or losing intensity at the bottom.“
